We also call them “sandwich foils”, because they are formed by combining two different materials. One component is always polyethylene, while the other component depends on required properties – e.g., compatibility with the material, vapor tightness, waterproofness, flame resistance. It is therefore possible to use a combination of polyethylene with a paper, Mirelon, membrane.
Properties of combined foils
These foils are mostly used as packaging material for spacers, cover sheets, or as the actual packaging of goods. The most frequent requirement is the protection of the packaged item on one side of the foil and watertightness and/or vapor-tightness on the other side of the foil. The combination of two different materials also results in high strength.
